The town of Grottaglie has been known for its high quality ceramics since the Middle Ages. Thanks to the abundance of clay in the area and the naturally formed caves throughout the town; providing the optimum cool and humid conditions for making pottery all year round!
Today the town is famous for its colourful splatter tableware and the artisans continuing the town's traditional craft.
